Farm Minister Quits in Ex-Aide’s Bribery Probe

Japan’s farm minister resigned to take responsibility for bribery allegations involving a former aide, a government spokeswoman said. The resignation of Tadamori Oshima deals another blow to Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi’s administration. Since last year, two lawmakers in Koizumi’s ruling Liberal Democratic Party have been arrested in money scandals.
Oshima’s former aide is accused of accepting $50,200 in political donations for personal use. Oshima said the aide later returned the money.
