About 125 pro-military demonstrators rallied Friday in support of U.S. troops fighting in Iraq, gathering at the same downtown spot that has been a staging area for many of the city’s anti-war protests during the last 10 days.
Reed Benet, a Bay Area commercial real estate agent, organized and led the rally in talk-show style, wandering among the crowd with a wireless microphone seeking comments.
“Americans are allowed to have opinions ... but we just need to show the troops that we love them, that we care about them,” Benet said.
