Sure, pack light -- but that light?

Regarding “Avoid Hassles and Pack Light” (Letters, Dec. 29): I wonder how John Glass has managed to take only carry-ons for one-week cruises and multi-week trips to Europe. Most airlines restrict carry-on luggage to one bag no bigger than 45 linear inches (the total of the height, width and depth of the bag). I would be hard pressed to go on a multi-week trip to Europe, with its varied weather conditions, carrying only a piece of luggage that size.
