Avalanche, Devils Fight to Tight-Checking Draw

The Colorado Avalanche’s David Aebischer stopped 27 shots, and the New Jersey Devils’ Martin Brodeur had 25 saves in a tight-checking 1-1 tie at Denver.
New Jersey’s Erik Rasmussen scored his first goal since Feb. 5 in the second period, and Brodeur improved to 10-1-3 in his last 14 starts.
Milan Hejduk scored his 14th goal for Colorado in the second period, 9-2-2-1 in its last 14 games.
San Jose 2, Edmonton 1 -- The Sharks overcame a lackluster first period before extending their winning streak to five games as Patrick Marleau ended a second-period tie at Edmonton, Canada.
Vesa Toskala made 35 saves for the Sharks, who have won five in a row for the first time since a six-game run Dec. 6-19, 2001.
Toronto 4, New York Rangers 2 -- Mats Sundin scored the go-ahead goal at New York and assisted on an insurance tally, and Trevor Kidd made 33 saves in his first game this season.
Sundin ended a 2-2 tie only 34 seconds after the Rangers had pulled even.
Kidd made his season debut after sitting out 24 games following shoulder surgery.
Phoenix 3, Boston 3 -- Shane Doan’s goal with 1:08 left in regulation gave the Coyotes a tie at Boston.
Glenn Murray scored his eighth goal in the third period to give Boston a 3-2 lead.
Sean Burke made 37 saves for Phoenix, including six in a two-minute span in the second period when the Bruins had a two-man advantage. Felix Potvin stopped 28 shots for Boston.
