Father in Amber Alert Case Is Found

An Amber alert was canceled Thursday after a father who allegedly kidnapped his two children from their home near Whittier was arrested in Laughlin, Nev.

A second alert was called off when authorities determined that another father, suspected of abducting his daughters from Garden Grove, had taken them to Mexico, police said.

In the first case, Gregory Corcoran, 25, took his 1-year-old son, Kyle, and 1-month-old daughter, Jenna, at 1:45 p.m. Wednesday, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, after assaulting his wife and threatening to kill the children if authorities were notified. The children were found unharmed, authorities said.

In the other case, police are focusing on locations in Mexico to possibly locate the children and determine if they are OK, said Garden Grove Police Sgt. Dennis Ellsworth.

Police obtained a $1-million warrant for the arrest of the father, Luis Arteaga, 29, who is suspected of kidnapping, child stealing, false imprisonment and making terrorist threats.

His daughters, Hilary, 5, and Zitlalit, 3, were last seen Sunday at the home of their mother, Anna Martinez, 27, who had been Arteaga’s girlfriend. The couple recently broke up.
