Respect for the Law Isn’t ‘Racismo’

Re “Memo Curbs Arrests of Immigrants,” Aug. 13: That little kid in the photo holding up the sign reading “No Mas Racismo” should hold up one that reads “No Mas Illegals.” Of all of today’s issues, this is one that baffles everyone around the water cooler. If you are in the United States legally, you’re OK. If you are in the country illegally, you should be sent back. And yes, this should be enforced even if you’re within one block of the Mexican consulate.
And, just so you’ll know, The Times’ editorial standard that decrees calling people in the country illegally “immigrants” is a lousy policy and should be dropped.
