Just One Problem With Pomeroy’s Title
Re “Pomeroy’s Style Stayed Unchanged,” May 8: The only thing wrong with Martin Pomeroy’s new title at the LAPD is that it has “interim” in front of “chief of police.” Pomeroy fits the profile of what we need in that critical position perfectly: a law enforcement professional who understands the need for community support of the Police Department and a department that returns that support; a chief who has the respect and admiration of the force, takes a thoughtful approach to issues and is not afraid to assume a leadership role.
I know him from his days as our deputy chief in the Valley, and there’s not a better cop around. Perhaps our gene-cloning scientists could have a go at him: one Pomeroy to run the LAPD, a second to retire in Montana.
