Tech Coast Angels Elects Chairman

* Dave Berkus has been elected chairman of Tech Coast Angels, a Southern California-based group of “angel” investors that has invested more than $40 million in 55 local companies. Berkus, a managing partner of Berkus Technology Ventures and Kodiak Ventures, replaces outgoing Chairman Ken Deemer.

* V. Charles Jackson has been named president and chief executive of Pasadena-based Community Bank. He most recently was a managing director of investment bank Lipper & Co.

* Dom Cecere has been named senior vice president and chief financial officer of KB Home, the Los Angeles-based home builder. He is a former chief operating officer of Owens Corning.

* Brian Medavoy has joined Santa Monica-based Immortal Entertainment as a partner and president of its newly established talent management division. A founding partner of talent management firm More-Medavoy, he also is an executive producer of the ABC sitcom “Dharma & Greg” and producer of the PBS series “American High.”

* Movie producer Marc Abraham, known for such releases as “Air Force One” and “The Family Man,” has created a new production company and signed a four-year, first-look agreement with Universal Pictures.

Abraham recently left Beacon Communications, a film production and financing company he co-founded, to form his own Los Angeles-based production company with partners and former Beacon executives Thomas Bliss and Eric Newman. Abraham has worked closely with Universal for several years, producing such movies as “Spy Games” (with Douglas Wick) and the summer teen hit “Bring It On.”

* Zenia Mucha has been promoted to senior vice president, corporate communications, for Walt Disney Co. and will be the Burbank-based entertainment company’s chief spokeswoman. A former top advisor to New York Gov. George Pataki, Mucha joined Disney last year as a spokeswoman for ABC Television.

She will oversee communications with media, employees and the financial community and continue to handle media relations and internal communications at ABC.

Mucha replaces John Dreyer, 54, who is resigning to pursue other opportunities, Disney said. He will become a communications consultant to the company.

* ABC Daytime executive Regina DiMartino has been named senior vice president, marketing, advertising and promotion, for ABC Family Channel.

* Thousand Oaks-based Amgen Inc. has named Hassan Dayem senior vice president and chief information officer. He joins Amgen from Merck & Co., where he was vice president of information services and chief information officer for worldwide computer and telecommunications technology.

* Veteran TV advertising sales executive Chris Kager has joined MGM/NBC Media Sales Group as president. Formerly with Rainbow Advertising Sales Corp., he will oversee advertising sales for MGM and NBC Enterprises off-network series and first-run syndication programming.

* Joseph Stein has joined El Pollo Loco Inc. as the restaurant chain’s chief financial officer. He is a former vice president and chief strategic and financial officer at Rubio’s Restaurant Inc.

* Audrey Summerfeld has joined Herbalife International Inc., the Los Angeles-based multilevel marketer of nutritional supplements, as senior director of marketing for outer nutrition and lifestyle products. She is a former marketing executive with Johnson & Johnson and Procter & Gamble Co.

* Eriks Krumins has been named executive producer at Venice-based commercial production company Backyard Productions. He previously worked at Original Film as head of production and executive producer.

* Unjoo DeCourcey has been promoted to executive producer of MOcean, a Venice-based creative design and production firm.

* Lenie Ramos has joined GoodSpot, a Santa Monica-based media design and marketing firm, as senior designer.

* Encino-based film distributor York Entertainment has tapped William Cunningham as acquisitions associate, a new position, and has hired advertising design veteran Bryan Scott Lichtman to create an in-house art department.

* Steve Glassman has been appointed branch manager of the Thousand Oaks office of residential real estate firm Coldwell Banker.

* Robert Liewer has been named vice president of development at MBK Homes in Irvine. He is a former executive at Taylor Woodrow Homes.

* Peter Lee has been named associate vice president of the Diamond Bar office of real estate brokerage Colliers Seeley International. He is a former Grubb & Ellis executive.

The company also promoted Mike Woods, an industrial specialist with the company’s north Los Angeles office, to vice president.

* Mark Valentine has been promoted to managing director-leasing for building manager Equity Office Properties Trust’s Orange County portfolio.

* Alan K. Davidson has been promoted to first vice president at Comerica Bank-California’s Community Business Bank.

* Rosemary Rutland has been named engineering manager of Packaging Department Inc., a Los Angeles-based supply chain and transport packaging firm. She formerly served as a package development executive at Coca-Cola Co.

* Pamela Bennett has been hired by City National Bank, based in Beverly Hills, as senior vice president and private client advisor for its private client services group. She is a former senior vice president with UBS PaineWebber’s Investments group.

* Jessica Fang has been named manager, national accounts, affiliate sales and marketing at Fox Cable Networks Group in Los Angeles. She was formerly with Califa Entertainment Group in Sherman Oaks.

* James P. Jeffords has joined Santa Ana-based commercial insurance firm Yates & Associates as assistant vice president in the commercial transportation department.

* Stuart Siegel has been promoted to vice president, sales and marketing communications, of Industrial Electronic Engineers Inc. in Van Nuys.

* Steven Morrison has been appointed director of acquisitions at Crown Realty & Development Corp. in Irvine. He is a former executive at CT Realty Corp. in Newport Beach.

* Jerry Thode, vice president at global management consulting firm Cap Gemini Ernst & Young, has been named area director for the Pacific Southwest region, which includes Southern California.

* Eric Dahl has joined Lake Forest-based SubZero Constructors Inc., responsible for business development and marketing.
