2 Suits Filed in Fatal Metrolink Crash

Two lawsuits have been filed against Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway, which operated the freight train that smashed into a Metrolink commuter train last month in Placentia.
One suit was filed by the family of Lawrence Sorensen, a 48-year-old Riverside engineer who was one of two passengers killed.
The other was filed by a survivor, passenger V’Londa Arlice Taylor. That suit invites others to join it.
Both suits allege negligence and willful disregard for the safety of the 270 Metrolink passengers. The freight train engineer told authorities he was blinded by the sun and missed warning signals.
