Police shot and killed a man late Friday after he fought with officers and threatened them with a baton and beanbag shotgun, officials said Saturday.
San Diego police officers shot the unidentified man “several times,” according to a prepared statement. His identity was not immediately available.
Police responding to reports of a disturbance found the man about 11:15 p.m. Friday banging on the windows of a candy store with a broom handle. Attempts to subdue the man were unsuccessful.
The man wrested a metal baton from an officer and also picked up a beanbag shotgun and pointed it at officers before he was shot, according to police.
