Airbus Tail Checks OK, Says American Airlines

American Airlines said there were no problems uncovered in a test of the second of two of its Airbus A300 planes being checked for the tail’s bonding to the craft’s metal body.
The plane is one of six Airbus aircraft that have been subjected to voluntary ultrasound tests on the tails after a fatal American Airlines crash in New York last year.
On Friday the Federal Aviation Administration said airlines will have to check the tails of the six Airbus planes that have gone through in-flight problems that placed sideways loads on their tails.
