Southland Soccer Teams in National Tournament

Eight teams from Southern California will be among 48 boys’ and girls’ club teams competing at the Snickers U.S. Youth Soccer National Championships from Wednesday through Sunday in Germantown, Md.
Among the local teams are the San Diego Surf girls’ under-19 squad, making its fourth consecutive appearance in the finals after winning the under-17 title in 2000 and finishing second in the under-18 last year.
Other teams are the San Bernardino-based Blast SC boys’ under-19, the Irvine Strikers boys’ under-17, the West Valley Samba girls’ under-16 from Northridge, the Laguna Hills Eclipse girls’ under-15, the Palos Verdes SC Raiders boys’ under-15, the Newport Beach-based Slammers FC girls’ under-14 and the La Jolla Nomads boys’ under-14.
