Armed Robber Grabs Cash From Supermarket

An armed robber escaped with an undisclosed amount of cash from a Vons supermarket in Port Hueneme, authorities said Monday.
Shortly before 7 p.m. Sunday, a man pulled out a semiautomatic handgun at the checkout counter of the store on West Channel Islands Boulevard, police said. He grabbed money from the cash register drawer and fled.
The robber was described as white, about 40 years old, 5-foot-9 and wearing a black-and-white checked shirt and blue jeans.
