PricewaterhouseCoopers, the world’s biggest accounting firm, made 361 employees partners, boosting the number to 9,400.
In the U.S., Pricewaterhouse added 113 partners, increasing the total to about 2,600, the New York-based firm said. About 160 employees in Europe, the Middle East and Africa were made partners.
Pricewaterhouse and Big Four rivals Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu, Ernst & Young International and KPMG International have won clients and hired partners from Arthur Andersen. Andersen is disintegrating following a conviction for obstructing a U.S. investigation into the collapse of former client Enron Corp. Pricewaterhouse has won several customers, including Colgate-Palmolive Co., Cummins Inc., Freddie Mac and Wyeth, from Andersen.
