A 40-year-old man stabbed in what police described as a domestic-violence attack at a Garden Grove motel died early Saturday at UC Irvine Medical Center, authorities said.
Bruce Whipple of Westminster was found lying with a stab wound to his back on the balcony of a room at the Firestation Motel on Harbor Boulevard.
He was found about 4:35 p.m. Friday, Garden Grove police said.
Officers arrested the victim’s girlfriend, Anna Marie Morgan, 27, on suspicion of attempted murder, said Sgt. Mike Handfield.
Police plan to ask prosecutors to seek murder charges against her, the sergeant said.
Morgan is being held at Central Women’s Jail in lieu of $250,000 bail and is scheduled to appear in court Tuesday.
Although domestic violence is more frequently carried out by men against women, Morgan is the second woman arrested in a week in connection with a domestic-violence killing.
Marita Hootan of Villa Park was arrested Wednesday after her husband was allegedly bludgeoned to death.
