Andersen Resigns As Auditor of Enron Unit

Andersen, the accounting firm embroiled in the collapse of Enron Corp., quit as outside auditor for one of the energy company’s units.
Azurix Corp., a Houston-based subsidiary that owns and operates water and waste-water assets, reported in a regulatory filing that Andersen resigned as its independent accountant. The filing gave no reason for the resignation, and an Azurix spokeswoman didn’t return a call for comment.
