A 10-year-old boy was grazed in the right cheek by a bullet when an off-duty police officer conducting a demonstration at a Philadelphia school dropped her gun, officials said.
The boy was released after treatment at Temple University Children’s Medical Center, a hospital spokeswoman said.
The officer, whose child was among the 23 students in the class, had shown the magazine clip and had just put it back in the gun when she dropped the weapon, Principal Francine Fulton said.
A police department spokesman declined to name the officer, who joined the department in 1996.
