Buena Softball Forfeits Game, Suspends Coach

The Ventura Buena softball program has forfeited a victory and the school has suspended sixth-year Coach Amy Hall for the remainder of the season for violating Southern Section rules, Athletic Director Joe Vaughan said.
According to Vaughan, Buena was scheduled to play two games during the Arroyo Grande tournament on April 6. A Buena player was ejected after a controversial play at home plate during a 2-1 victory over Arroyo Grande. By rule, that player must not be present for the next game. Hall decided to not play the second game.
Because Buena did not play the second game, the penalty carried over to Buena’s next game, a 4-0 victory over Santa Barbara in which the ineligible athlete played, forcing forfeiture of the victory.
Co-coach Glen Allen, who is in his first year, will remain as coach but is on probation.
“What we’re doing in the case of both [coaches] is we’ll evaluate their status after the season,” Vaughan said. “[Hall] wasn’t trying to be malicious, but it was definitely an error in judgment.”
