Officer Who Killed Suspect Is Identified

A Ventura police officer who shot and killed a suspected car thief has been identified as Cpl. Jon Keller, 37, a 14-year veteran of the department.
Randy Reeves, 19, of Ventura, who was wanted by police on suspicion of auto theft and identity theft, was shot in the chest and leg after he attempted to stab Keller with a knife during an altercation Thursday, Sgt. Brock Avery said.
Keller opened fire after fighting briefly with Reeves, who was pronounced dead at Ventura County Medical Center.
