Climate of Fear

In this present climate of anxiety, two profound admonitions come to mind and should be heeded by the nation.
Franklin D. Roosevelt during the Great Depression: “The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.”
Kenneth Clark, in his seminal TV show and book, “Civilisation”: “The nature of civilisation, however complex and solid it seems, is actually quite fragile. It can be destroyed. What are its enemies? First of all fear--fear of invasion, and fear of plague and famine.”
