City Workers Called to Service to Get Full Pay

Mayor James K. Hahn on Monday signed a council ordinance to provide full compensation to city employees called to active military duty following the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.
Under the ordinance, the city will pay the difference between the employees’ military salary and their regular city salary, including benefits. “The city of Los Angeles stands behind the men and women who serve in the military reserves and are prepared to leave their families and their jobs in order to serve their country,” Hahn said.
The city took similar action during the Gulf War.
