Slain Boy’s Parents Help Deliver Books to School

The parents of a 7-year-old local boy killed in 1997 by gang gunfire at Darby Park helped deliver 300 children’s books Wednesday to a school library named in honor of their son.
Ruett and Rhonda Foster started a book donation project in December after learning that many volumes in the Evan Leigh Foster Library at Frank D. Parent Elementary School, 5354 W. 64th St., were outdated or tattered.
The donated volumes were collected from chain bookstores, independent booksellers and individuals by Women Against Gun Violence, a gun-control group based in Los Angeles County, Ruett Foster said.
