A Northwest Airlines plane went off a runway at Detroit Metropolitan Airport in Romulus after the pilot aborted the takeoff.
The airliner was carrying 154 passengers and crew on a flight to Miami, an airport spokesman said.
Airport and Northwest officials said they were not sure why the takeoff was aborted. It was not immediately clear whether the plane veered or skidded off the runway.
The Airbus 320’s emergency chutes were lowered, and passengers were bused back to the terminal, an official said. Two people were treated at the scene and a third was taken to a hospital and later released, an official said.
