Detectives have arrested a parolee in the death of a 43-year-old Los Angeles woman whose body was found Saturday in Lake Arrowhead.
Janet Fry’s body was discovered 11 feet below the surface near the public docks. She had suffered injuries that were not caused by drowning, police said.
Deputies said Gary Mansker, a 22-year-old painter, met Fry on Friday at the Lake Arrowhead Resort, an upscale lodge on the lake shore. Authorities searched his home Sunday morning and found evidence linking him to Fry’s killing, said Sgt. Bobby Dean of the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.
Paul Fry, Janet’s husband, reported Saturday evening that his wife was missing.
Mansker previously served time in state prison for grand theft, according to the Department of Corrections.
He is being held without bail in the Sheriff’s Central Detention Center in San Bernardino.
