*SAN DIEGO (8-5) at LOYOLA MARYMOUNT (4-9), 7, KXLU-FM (88.9)--The Lions lost their last two games to Nevada Las Vegas (75-60) and San Diego State (61-58), and the task doesn’t get any easier in their West Coast Conference opener. The Toreros won 20 games last season and, with Gonzaga and Pepperdine, are seen as the class of the WCC. They have lost four of their last five, however, after a 7-1 start. Without a star, but with five returning starters, San Diego relies on its experience. Loyola Coach Steve Aggers said senior center Pablo Machado has a hip injury and without him the Lions have had trouble matching up with bigger, deeper teams. Senior forward Elton Mashack is 36 points away from reaching 1,000 for his career.
