Healthy Babies

In reading “Study of Births Puzzles Experts” (Dec. 20) I wondered how expert these experts are. I’m not puzzled why Latino women have the healthiest babies. One only needs to observe a Latino mother in the grocery store to know the answer. She always buys a variety of fresh fruit and vegetables, unprocessed rice and dry beans, 2% milk (not nonfat), fresh meat and very little or no junk food. She doesn’t read labels, worry about fat content or enough soy. She knows “everything in moderation”; she knows the importance of a balanced diet. She is by far the best shopper for her income. Her reward is a healthy baby.
