Re “Senate, in Dark of Night, Clears Path for Pay Hike,” Dec. 9: Is the cost of living higher in D.C. (3.4%) than in Los Angeles (2.6%)? This works out to $4,900 for senators and $37 for my family for the 2002 cost-of-living increase.
