Sprinter Jon Drummond, a gold medalist in the 400-meter relay at the 2000 Olympics, was carrying 7 pounds of marijuana when he was arrested in October after leaving Los Angeles International Airport, authorities said Wednesday.
Drummond, 33, of Culver City, was charged Dec. 6 with transporting marijuana. He was released on $20,000 bail, said district attorney’s spokeswoman Jane Robison, and was to be arraigned Wednesday. But a judge postponed the hearing until Jan. 22.
Drummond was arrested Oct. 23 after being pulled over by members of an LAX drug task force, Robison said. Authorities said that Drummond was alone and that the drugs were in a backpack in the car.
