Katie Wilkins had 18 kills to help Pepperdine, which won its 13th in a row, defeat North Carolina, 30-27, 30-26, 30-23, in the second round of the NCAA women’s volleyball playoffs Friday at Chapel Hill, N.C. The Waves (23-3) play Florida next.
In first-round matches, Kristee Porter had 17 kills to help UCLA defeat Pennsylvania, 30-26, 30-25, 30-23, at State College, Pa. ... April Ross had 14 kills for USC (23-3), which defeated Liberty, 30-18, 30-20, 30-14 at Durham, N.C. ... San Diego defeated UC Santa Barbara, 26-30, 26-30, 30-28, 30-27, 15-10, at Long Beach.

In the Division III playoffs:
La Verne d. Juniata (Wis.), 27-30, 30-28, 30-17, 24-30, 15-8--Stacey Lupu had 16 kills to help La Verne (26-1) win a semifinal at Whitewater, Wis.
In the NCAA Division II men’s soccer playoffs:
CS Dominguez Hills 1, Dowling (N.Y.) 0--Rick Cobb’s overtime goal in the 101st minute at Tampa, Fla., lifted the Toros (20-2-1) into Sunday’s final.
