Six Masked Gunmen Kill Irish Priest

Masked gunmen killed an Irish priest who had worked for more than 20 years on the southern island of Mindanao to promote unity between Christians and Muslims, police said.
The gunmen, suspected members of a Muslim kidnapping gang, shot Father Rufus Halley, 57, in the head Monday when he resisted attempts to kidnap him while he was traveling in Lanao del Sur province, police said.
As he drove his motorbike down a dirt road, six masked men armed with assault rifles flagged him down, police said. They shot him once in the head and several times in the arms, then fled.
