A Breed Apart: Stranger Picks Up $2,000 Vet Bill

Lois Ogren broke down and cried when the veterinarian in Cooper City, Fla., told her it would cost $2,000 to fix her dog’s badly injured leg. It was much more than the single mother on food stamps and Medicaid could afford.
Then an anonymous stranger stepped forward with a credit card and paid the bill.
Ogren couldn’t believe it. “I think I squeezed her bones right out of her body,” said Ogren, 38.
Ogren’s dog, Simon, an 11-year-old half-schnauzer, half-spitz, was injured by a hit-and-run driver in her trailer park.
