ID Elusive for Jogger Saying He Has Amnesia

Police and hospital officials said Thursday that they have been unable to learn the identity of a neatly attired jogger who walked into a Newport Beach emergency room saying he didn’t know who he was or where he lived.
“At this point, all we can do is wait to see if somebody identifies him,” said Sgt. Steve Shulman, a spokesman for the Newport Beach Police Department.
On Wednesday morning, a man who appeared to be in his mid-20s walked into Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian apparently suffering from amnesia, authorities said. Newport Beach police said he was articulate and well-groomed and displayed no obvious signs that he was suffering from a medical problem or that he might be under the influence of drugs. He carried no identification and was wearing gray jogging pants with a light gray stripe down the outside of each leg, an off-white T-shirt and running shoes.
Shulman said investigators sent his fingerprints to the FBI and searched missing persons reports. So far, he said, nobody has come forward to identify the man.
Hoag officials offered little information about the man. Spokeswoman Karen Lindsay said he was undergoing tests Thursday, though she would not describe them.
