OXNARD — Authorities have released the name of an Oxnard man who died Sunday night after his car spun out of control and hit a telephone pole.
Arturo Aguirre, 23, was driving north on Rose Avenue in Oxnard at a high rate of speed about 8:15 p.m., authorities said, when his car drifted to the west shoulder near Central Avenue.
The car hit a power pole and split in half. The front end slid 30 feet north, and the rear end wrapped around the pole. Aguirre was pronounced dead at the scene.
The accident is still under investigation, California Highway Patrol Officer Dave Webb said.
