7:30 TONIGHT BREA OLINDA HIGH
In addition to Godfrey Young (averaging 34.7 yards on three receptions), Travis Otott has found a competent pair of hands in receiver Josh Short (six receptions), and the Vaqueros will need to be as competent as possible: “They’re a Sea View League [caliber] team,” Irvine Coach Terry Henigan said of Orange Lutheran after its 14-7 loss to Newport Harbor in Week 1. Irvine’s inexperienced linemen get their first challenge against a physical defense, and the outcome might depend on how well they can adapt. Casey Whieldon had an impressive debut last week in 35-14 victory over Troy, but Irvine isn’t Troy.
