Villa Park Rallies, Beats Gahr in Volleyball

Villa Park rallied to defeat Cerritos Gahr, 9-15, 15-9, 14-16, 15-3, 15-4, in the Gahr girls’ volleyball tournament Friday.
Senior middle blocker Amy Sarkaria had 32 kills and seven blocks and Sarah Childress had 61 assists for the Spartans.
In nonleague girls’ tennis:
Garden Grove 9, Cerritos 9 (Garden Grove wins on games, 81-67)--The Argonauts (1-0) swept in doubles, led by seniors Jeanie Kong and Susie Shin.
Laguna Beach 11, Capistrano Valley 7--Megan MacGillivray and Caroline Tucker won 6-3, 6-2, 6-0 in doubles for Laguna Beach.
Western 16 1/2, Katella 4 1/2--Quang Tran swept in singles and teamed with partner Melissa Dofredo for a sweep in doubles for host Western (1-0).
Katella is 0-2.
In nonleague boys’ water polo:
Laguna Beach 5, Esperanza 4--Pat Sandys and Trevor Lyle each scored two goals for host Laguna Beach (1-0). David Bartels had 10 saves for the Artists.
