About 900 Pacific Bell customers were without phone service Monday after a wet electric cable shorted out, a company spokesman said.
The phones went dead about midnight Sunday, spokesman Brian Brokowski said. It was unclear how the cable became wet, he said.
The short occurred at Alton and Portola parkways and affected homes in the Foothill Ranch area.
