DETROIT — Ford Motor Co. said it recalled all 351,000 Focus cars in North America to install stronger panels that help hold the windshield in place and to check for rear-wheel and cruise-control problems in some vehicles.
No accidents have been reported as a result of the problems, the company said. Of the cars, 260,390 are being recalled because of 15 reports that the rear-wheel and brake-drum assemblies separated from vehicles when a retaining nut loosened. The assemblies will be checked and replaced if needed.
Ford also is notifying owners of 33,225 Focuses to have the cruise-control cable inspected. There have been 12 reports of the throttle sticking after it has been wide open, the company said.
