The City Council on Monday denied a request from AT&T; Wireless to erect a cellular phone antenna at the Santa Ana Stadium/Eddie West Field. The council asked staff to determine whether such devices can be located within one structure in the city.
AirTouch Cellular already has a pole disguised as a palm tree at the stadium, and some council members were reluctant to allow another.
“I’d like to know that we’ve made every effort to explore other options,” said Councilwoman Lisa Bist. “I wouldn’t like to see the stadium full of all these fake trees.”
