Cypress Wins Twice on First Day of Tournament

Cypress swept two games Monday, the first day of the Cypress women’s water polo mini-tournament.
The Chargers won their first-round game against Santa Monica, erasing a 3-0 first-quarter deficit and eventually winning, 6-5. Jill Sievers scored the winning goal with just more than two minutes to play.
In a second-round game, Cypress beat Cerritos, 15-3. The Chargers (7-8) jumped out to a 9-0 halftime lead and cruised to the victory.
Juliette Johnson scored five goals for Cypress in the second game, and Amber King had three.
In Orange Empire Conference women’s golf:
Gulyanamitta medals, Fullerton wins--Russy Gulyanamitta shot a 72 to medal for Cypress in the four-way match at the Cypress Navy Course.
Fullerton won the team competition with a score of 355, followed by Cypress (363), Orange Coast (378) and Golden West (413).
