Beckman Coulter Inc. said Monday it received regulatory approval to market Access Testosterone, a test for total testosterone levels in human serum and plasma.
Testosterone, which is found in men and women, helps build muscle, influences sex drive and stimulates production of red blood cells.
The Fullerton company, which received approval by the Food and Drug Administration to market the test, said it will be available on the company’s Access Immunoassay System. The test helps manage patients with fertility disorders, sexual dysfunction, tumors and other medical conditions.
Access Testosterone can generate results in 16 minutes.
Beckman Coulter’s stock edged up 13 cents a share to $75.06 on the New York Stock Exchange.
