Armed Robbers Barge Into Home, Steal Guns

VENTURA — Three masked men with guns and knives burst into an apartment Saturday night and tied up the residents before stealing six rifles and semiautomatic handguns, authorities said Sunday.
Leroy Bjergum, 30, was stabbed in his right side and was treated at a local hospital and released, Ventura police said.
Bjergum and his brother, Ronald, 39, were in their apartment in the 200 block of Kalorama Street when the robbers rang the doorbell and then barged in after the residents opened the door.
The robbers forced one brother to open a locked safe where the weapons were stored, then tied up both men and forced them to lie on the floor, Ventura Police Lt. Bryan Roberts said.
The robbers fled in a car, possibly being driven by a fourth man, authorities said. Detectives were investigating whether the robbers had been to the apartment before or knew about the safe.
