Raves for Video Stores

I was pleased to see Cinefile, near the Nuart Theater, included in Brenda Rees’ article (“The Best Video Store Category,’ March 9). When I first visited this wonderful little nook, I was just amazed to see the great foreign films shelved by director--such a good yet simple idea.
I cannot imagine a store where so many fine videos are as easy to access. It is so enjoyable to browse there after a feature at the Nuart.

I’m surprised to see no mention of A Videostore Named Desire, located at 11631 Santa Monica Blvd. It’s a local favorite not only because every rental is $1 every day--including new releases--but its selection of foreign, classic Hollywood and Hong Kong films is damn near as impressive as Vidiots’ and much larger than Cinefile’s. And Videostore lets customers keep non-new releases for six days!
This is easily the most unsung of the great video stores in this city.
