the arrest and conviction of a man authorities suspect of committing a rash of armed robberies in Ventura County.
John David “J.D.” Barnett is the only outstanding suspect in a series of robberies last December, said Oxnard police. The robber fired a gun in most of the incidents, police said.
Barnett is a suspect in five robberies, a carjacking and a kidnapping in El Rio, Ventura and Oxnard, police said.
Detectives said they think Barnett fled Oxnard in mid-December, but they believe he has returned to the area.
He is 36, 6 feet 1 and 210 pounds with black hair, brown eyes and a muscular build. He was last seen with long braided ponytails, but his hairstyle may have changed, authorities said.
Anyone with information should call 385-TALK. Tips can be anonymous.
