Keep an eye on Albert Soria of Santa Clara from the perimeter.
He made a tournament-record seven three-point baskets in the Saints’ 65-55 loss to San Jose Archbishop Mitty in the consolation final of the Father Barry Christmas Classic last week in Sacramento. Soria connected on 13 three-pointers for Santa Clara (4-5), which went 1-2 in the tournament.

St. Bonaventure boys’ Coach Gil Kim was eagerly awaiting the end of football season. He was missing four players from the Seraphs’ Division XI champion football team--guards Jack Swisher and Dan Witcher and forwards John Cobey and Whitney Lewis.
Witcher, a defensive back, dislocated his shoulder in the championship game against Orange Lutheran. He is expected to be sidelined until Tri-Valley league basketball play begins in January.
The Seraphs’ biggest boost could come from Lewis, a sophomore who established himself among the top wide receivers in the region.
“Whitney is a very good basketball player,” Kim said. “He’s got a lot of experience for a kid his age and it shows. Then you factor in what kind of athlete he is, and you’ve got the makings of a very good player.”
Lewis, who played on the junior varsity team last year, is expected to make his varsity basketball debut today against Providence.
“He looks like he could play any position at this level,” Kim said. “He can already dunk easily. It’s unbelievable. He has a lot of potential.”
