* Re “San Diego Zoo’s Beloved Escape-Artist Ape Dies,” Dec. 2: Amazing! A beloved orangutan has cancer, and the zoo’s core staff was able to make the difficult decision to ease Kenny’s suffering--and he was euthanized (put to sleep). We humans do not have such a choice. We can watch our loved ones die in pain and suffering and have to stand by and let the nightmare happen. When are we going to treat our human loved ones as well as we do our animals?
