Google.com, GoTo.com Rank Highest in Study

SAN FRANCISCO — Some search engines are better at listing commercial sites, while others are more comprehensive guides to Web content, according to a recent study by the investment banking firm Lazard Freres & Co.
After 20 identical queries to six popular search engines, a scoring system was used to see which gave the most relevant results.
Google.com and GoTo.com were the clear-cut winners, but in very different areas.
Google responded best to requests for obscure information and GoTo was best for inquiries about products and services.
