Mayor Selected for a 4th Term
The City Council unanimously selected William S. Craycraft to serve his fourth term as mayor at its meeting Monday.
The council also elected Susan Withrow to serve as the city’s mayor pro tempore, with Withrow casting the deciding vote for herself. Newly elected council member Gail Reavis nominated John Paul Ledesma to serve as mayor pro tem and sent a letter to the other council members before the meeting informing them of her intent and asking them for their support.
The council majority, made up of Craycraft, Withrow and current Mayor Sherri M. Butterfield, instead supported Withrow, who has served as mayor and mayor pro tem.
A great deal of animosity remains between the council majority and Ledesma, who testified against the three in August when they were found guilty of violating the state’s open-meeting laws.
