* On Tuesday, the Commerce Department will report on July sales of new single-family homes. Other reports on sales of previously owned homes and housing construction have signaled the market is cooling because of higher interest rates.
* On Tuesday, the private business group the Conference Board will release its index on consumer confidence for August. In July, the index stood at 141.7. That was close to the all-time high of 144.7 set in May and January.
* On Wednesday, the Conference Board will release its index of leading economic indicators, which is designed to project economic activity six months from now.
* On Thursday, the Commerce Department will issue the factory order report for July.
* On Friday, the Commerce Department will release its July report on construction spending. In June, such spending had fallen 1.7% compared with the year-earlier period.
