* Re “A Big Boost for Bright Kids,” Aug. 13: “Ever since second grade, my No. 1 priority has been to hide my intelligence and not look nerdy.” What a sad and poignant commentary on a society which routinely denigrates intelligence. (Ever wonder why George is so much more popular than Al?) Three cheers for Loyola Marymount: I only wish that its “urban initiative effort” could afford to enroll 3,500 students instead of 35.
