WALNUT — Authorities on Friday identified a day laborer who was killed when a house being moved down a Walnut street shifted on its supports and crushed him.
Enrique Gilbert Lester, 43, died in the emergency room at County-USC Medical Center after Thursday’s 6 a.m. accident on Grand Avenue, near Mountaineer Road, a coroner’s investigator said.
Lester, a married father of three, was trying to secure the structure when the house shifted, said Sgt. Jerry Hand of the Walnut Sheriff’s Station.
Crews later moved the house to a vacant lot down the street. Cal/OSHA investigators were working to determine the cause of the accident.
